Mathematics

All of these notes have been typeset by me (Matthew Hutton) unless otherwise stated. A copy of Acrobat Reader (or your alternative favourite PDF viewer) is required to view these files.

Disclaimer

These notes are not guaranteed to be accurate or complete, it is possible that I (and the other authors) have missed, or misunderstood some of the content. The content is distributed in the hope that it will be useful but they are only intended as a guide and there is no guarantee any of the material included will be in the examinations.

Corrections

If you find errors in notes that I have typeset then corrections are still welcome. Please drop me an email to latex@matthewhutton.com.

2007/2008 Third Year Mathematics Courses

Complex Analysis

These are the questions given in the lectures in typed form chapter by chapter. Typeset by Matthew Hutton

Topology

Ian Rogers has typeset some topology revision notes.

2006/2007 Second Year Mathematics Courses

If you are trying to revise for your exams, I have to recommend using the Warwick Mathematics Society Revision Guides written by my good friend Dave McCormick as they are shorter and are extremely well written. They do require being a member of the Warwick Mathematics Society (or cost £1 each), but University Degrees are very important in todays world, so it’s a small price to pay.

Algebra II

Typeset by Ian Rogers.

Differentiation

Typeset by Matthew Pusey and Ian Rogers respectively.

Metric Spaces

Typeset by Ian Rogers.

Partial Differential Equations

I notice that these notes have been linked from the PDE course page for this year. Unfortunately the lecture notes we made last year are quite difficult to understand. In my opinion the Maths Societies’ PDEs revision guide is far more helpful and can be downloaded here (WMS Membership required), it will be updated nearer the time for this years course. Of course your mileage may vary.

Typeset by Matthew Hutton and Ian Rogers respectively.

Vector Analysis

Chapters 1 to 8, 10 and 14 to 20 typeset in LaTeX by Matthew Hutton, Chapters 9, 11 and 12 typeset in LaTeX by Matthew Pusey, Chapter 11, typeset in Pages by Matthew Hutton.

Installing LaTeX Links

LaTeX is a typesetting language used heavily in Mathematics and Science as although it has a steep learning curve once you get the hang of it, it is very good for writing documents. On my Macs I use TeXShop for writing Mathematics related documents and iWork for everything else.

Hi Matthew, just stumbled across your site whilst trying to work out how to add a pdf to download on my site (created in iweb), is your site still created using iweb? Just wondering how you added the diary and also how to create a form to capture people email address, it looks neat and tidy on yours, we used wufoo but don’t really like it. Would really appreciate your help, sorry for the generic request!!! Regards Graham
